I've pondered the UBI thing and as has been mentioned, it just sets a new floor for costs of goods and services.

It seems to me that the world has enough things that need fixing and enough tasks that require the human touch (for the moment) or that the market prefers human for (massage, art, music) that what we really need is Universal Basic Education.

Imagine if the money that was going to go to a UBI is instead directed to educating folks. These freely educated, no education debt, folks then take their education and their AI agents and go out to make the world better.

That's the path I think we should follow.

Giving out a UBI just puts a whole mess of people in a position where they are even more controlled by the Government. 'Do this or you lose your UBI', 'Your social credit score went down, you lose some of your UBI', etcetera. A very dystopian world.

I'd much rather see a world where the free time created by the AI and the automation and the improvements in technology get used by society to keep improving society.

I believe an increase in education would result in a decrease in violence (by changing the root causes of the violence).

A world full of highly educated people can't be a bad thing surely. A lot of the world's troubles come from the fact a good chunk of the world are massively ignorant of the basics of science, history, geography, maths, engineering, medicine, nutrition, economics, etcetera. Most folks finished education at school and have never moved past whatever level they go to then.
