I'm Australian. We call wash cloths, flannels, because they are, or were, made of flannel. We generally don't just use soap because we spend a lot of time at the beach and sand doesn't come off with just soap.
And I don't know what other people do, but I wash all meat before preparing it.
And raisins in potato salad is utterly disgusting.
We do use beetroot in our burgers though (pickled beetroot to be accurate. So it is a bit sweet and a bit tangy and soft).

Imagine relying on 'heat to kill the bacteria'.
Although in Australia if you drop a bit of steak on the ground when using the barbecue, you just put it back on the grill for a 'germ burn' so maybe we do do the same.
