I totally agree that we are consuming more than is available. It is around April that we've used a year's worth of stuff. We are forever borrowing from the future.

But as for water. I'm Australian so I'm quite aware of the floods, but this isn't what will cause the wars over water. The Colorado river is drying up. Dams all over the world are at record low levels. The overall rise in the average temp of the planet means that ever more water is locked up in the atmosphere rather than available on the ground.

This means there is ever more energy available to drive storms and alter the weather systems which means places that used to get enough rain won't.

And places where enough rain has fallen, will get ever more.

Basically fresh water won't be as predictable as it has been.

I know about the La Niña cycles and you're missing a bit of basic weather science if you don't understand how global warming affects the supplies of fresh water.
