I ponder what will happen if we ever decide to crowd source the computing required for a general AI.

Would we accidentally create something that because it is smeared across the Internet, has no 'off' button.

But science fiction aside, that was a great article. I had no idea. That we are quite a ways off a true general AI is the only reason this doesn't make me really nervous.

At some point we'll make a system that will perform beyond anyone's expectations, a bit like some felt GPT-3 did, and it may head off in its own direction.

Clearly I am one of those slightly concerned with the 'turns the Earth into paperclips' potential of a properly intelligent general AI.
