I had't thought of that, but historically a way to reduce a population was to go out and fight with some other population.

Also war tended to create jobs, but if people have been displaced by automation and machine intelligence, then there's no reason that war jobs wouldn't also be sucked up the same way.

I suspect we are looking at some very challenging times ahead.
