So Figure 01 is doing some pretty impressive speech to movement.
Here is the video. Worth watching. Obviously backed by an LLM. Not sure which one.
So robots are very close to being ready for homes. Certainly ready for factories, and it seems to me that this level of dexterity will let it do a lot of what a human might do on an assembly line in Asia.
Too expensive for that at the moment given humans are cheap in some places, but one day, economy of scale or the nastiness of the work environment will mean robots will be replacing humans.
Seems to me that short of something catastrophic to get in the way, it is inevitable.
So white collar jobs will disappear first, then blue collar. I can’t think of any other collars that are left except a dog collar, and even that might get replaced in some instances.
Some folks might opt for a service dog that isn’t a dog, but has the same form factor.
I guess we’ll see soon enough.
